About Kimberley Terrell
I am a middle grade fiction writer, making the world a better place -
one book at a time.
Some of my characters might have a disability or be neurodivergent. But these aren't disability stories.
My characters are right in the middle of the action, which is exactly where they should be.
My inclusive characters are inspired by my son Ollie, who has cerebral palsy, and by the diversity in my classrooms.
About my books
My diverse characters are heroes in real world stories with a fantastical twist.

The Zombies of Menzies Primary
There’s lots of important stuff in our book, like how to chuck buckets on zombies’ heads, how soccer goals are you-beaut for shoveling 'em down hallways with, and how gym mats and gaffer tape'll immobilise a zombie like nobody's business.
There's a Demon in the Maintenance Cupboard and it ate Alice McKenzie
Morgan doesn't even like Alice, and it's probably too late to save her anyway, given how the demon ate her and everything.
Werekids: Flight
Can Pip find out who he is as a boy before his pelican self takes over forever?
Works in Progress
The Summer I Summoned a Unicorn
Llewie doesn't want friends; not Callie; not even a unicorn; especially not a unicorn.
The Unwriting of Axel Smi-Schreiber
Unwritten from his story and banished to processing with unwanted characters from every book, Axel refuses to accept his fate.

Nyusually I think books are stupid, on account of I find reading and writing really hard. There, I told ya. So it's actually easy for me to feel stupid, which is stupid itself on account of reading and writing is only one kind of smart.
If you don't read our book and you get all zombified, don't come crying to me. I did warn ya.

Jake
Haven't you heard of me? I'm Jake Johnston: the bravest year four kid what ever lived.
Ali
It's true Ali weren't very brave and were very bossy. Only we'd be up the creek without a paddle and all that if it weren't for him.
Melly
Melly's too kind if you ask me. Only me dad says it's kindness what makes the world go round. He'd have a lot of time for Melly. Plus, the zombies only give Melly the heebie-jeebies now, what means she's getting braver.

Nuru
Nuru's little but that's okay. She's the most important person in this whole apocalypse, I reckon.

Miss Sharma
Miss Sharma's next to nyuseless, if you ask my opinion.
Sequels and spin-offs in the zombie apocalypse
This is Tillie Osbourne Speaking and this is the Zombie Apocalypse
Who was Tillie on the radio and why wouldn't she talk?
Food, Water, Safety Here
Who is Elise? How did she help Melly's Dad at the services station between Canberra and Sydney?
How to Cure a Zombie
Can they cure their parents?
What happened to all the kids and teachers at the swimming carnival?

There's a demon in the maintenance cupboard in the upstairs hallway at Gorton Primary and it just ate Alice McKenzie.
Morgan told the demon to spit Alice out. She might be too chewed up, and there's no point in having tiny pieces of Alice. But the demon ate her so quickly, it's possible he swallowed her whole, isn't it?

Llewie is stuck here on the old man and the old lady's farm. And he's stuck with the unicorn too. It offered him friendship; so did Callie from next door. Llewie doesn't want any friends: he can't be anybody's friend; friends expect you to have feelings and Llewie can't let himself feel anything ever again.
Ever since he was mean to Callie, Llewie keeps having to live the same day over and over, even though it's never the day he really wants: the day when he could take it all back.

Axel knew something strange had happened when a force field appeared around his house and his girlfriend didn't even remember him. But he wasn't expecting to find out that he is fictional.
Nothing has gone right for author Kimberley Terrell either. Since she engaged a service to un-write the character Axel and his family from her ghost story, unexplained things keep happening.
